market days....

the market opened for the season last weekend, but jana couldn't attend so we had our traditional market date today!

our community is pretty lack in activities so it was nice to get out and about today.

it was also exciting because the crepe spot was open again this season so we got to enjoy some yummy crepes.

 my crepe: the zen: banana, kiwi, granola and vanilla yogurt....yummy indeed!

 funny story: i didn't want to wear this dress today because you know what happens when you wear a flouncy dress and it's windy...well, it didn't seem THAT windy until i was already out and about.  managed to make it through most of our date without much embarassment until right before jana took this photo.  i was standing there ready for my pic...but the wind had other ideas and sent my skirt flying high to the sky!!!!!  which wouldn't have been so bad HAD I NOTICED!!! but no, jana had to say 'um, melissa, put your dress down'.  

I totally flashed her my goods.  thank god for panties.....but still.

my pant-less baby is also awesome.  except when he is cranky and crying (awkward)

-i ordered an ipad! YAY!!! episodes of mad men are about to get that much more AWESOME.

-the fact that my nails are growing (albeit slowly)

-a potential getaway next weekend with the friday hubby (for two whole nights)

-the fact that tomorrow is

-clearly i need more awesome in my life

-the snowstorm we had yesterday

-the fact that my tooth i had straightened out with braces now all of a sudden appears worse than before (sad face)

-the crying FIT avery had when leaving day care today

-and the fact that he can now reach the 'junk' drawer and i just caught him sucking on a battery

-the fact that it's the end of april and i have a fire roaring
-the fact that i just watched wizards of waverly place

-and i was too lazy after work to get an outfit shot, so you'll have to settle for some pj's (and an unmade bed)

date night...

friday we managed to score some baby free time, which we put to good use by going on a date.

dinner and a movie: predictable, but since we couldn't remember the last time we went to the movies together, it sounded like a fantastic idea.

jamie wanted to go to the 'big d drive in' for supper.

i had never been, so i was on board for that idea.

it's a retro little place, where you drive in, park, and the waitress comes to you

to my disappointment they were not on roller skates, but it was fun all the same!

 our grub on the tray attached to our window.

the also sold milkshakes but i wanted to save room for movie food

 my food: a 'danny burger'...cheeseburger covered in a tomato sauce, served with fries and coleslaw: yum!

i had root beer to drink...my fave!!

 we had some time to kill before the movie so i made jamie stop when i saw this door so we could take a picture....my casual friday date night outfit.

and then it was onto the movies! 

we saw scream 4

(when i bought my ticket i asked for 'scary movie'--embarrassing) 

it was really good! just as good as the first.

i thought i had it all figured out who the killer was, but i was wrong, usually i'm good at that stuff.

i'd say it was a great date night.

can't wait for more!!

awkward & awesome

 on the list for awkward this week:

-anytime avery screamed (terrible 2's minus 4 months?)

-the snow storm we got yesterday...hello it's april!

-pulling into a gas station only to find the pumps covered in garbage bags..what?

-jumping on the highway to get to another gas station and realizing i forgot about one that was much closer....u turn on the highway!!

-getting ripped off at foot locker last week....GRRRRRR

-still not knowing if i'll get my money back from foot locker...double GRRRR

and on the awesome side of things:

-a semi-four day weekend (minus a few hours running into work tomorrow)

-two date nights with jamie this weekend!!

-the fact that i will be stuffing my face, tomorrow night at this time, with dill pickle popcorn from the movie theatre

-running four nights in a row this week!

-only spending 20$ in gas so far...driving our little car is so much better cheaper

-the fact that while i'm sitting down writing this right now, avery is quietly eating in his high chair...score one for mama!!

Collective Concepts Lupine Teal Print Romper

Jana mentioned to me that she didn't like that she couldn't comment on my 'i heart this' daily feature on my blog, so i decided to make it as post, as well as a quick link on the right hand side of my blog.

This romper from lulu's is my pick for today.

i love how easy breezy it is for the summer, especially when paired with those awesome garren heels from blow fish (on my wish list!!) and a great brown belt.

I immediately want to be wearing this on a beach somewhere, preferably with a frosty margarita in hand.

 it's sunny out today but windy...still too chilly for me to grab some outdoor pics...plus i'm sure that my tripod would have fallen over!

it's not really baby friendly considering avery kicked me in the stomach while i was putting him in his car seat today, leaving a nice little brown foot print.

ps, you guys, this weekend i might have two, count 'em TWO date nights with my hubby.

and i am beyond excited.

back in the swing of things...

the bad thing about these daily style pics is that you can think you look cute all day, then take one look at these pictures and realize you suddenly have hips.for.days.

yikes!

i used to love mondays, truly i did.

now, i'd like to punch monday's right in the face.

especially this monday because it meant LOTS of catching up at work (down fall of taking 1.5 days off last week)...plus a lot of other annoyances.

i haven't been running since last thursday and that has been bugging me all day.

i feel sluggish and slow and just blah.

i need some endorphins.

like yesterday.

side note: thinking i should sign up for a 6k in june...but should i sign up for a 10k instead for some super motivation??
