moving onward...

Avery and I got our own place! :) We are only renting, but it's a big step for us in our new life as single mama and cool dude two year old.  

The house is 43 old and I didn't end up taking any furniture from our old house except for a couch, tv and Avery's dresser.  I wanted to move on from the modern furniture that we had there and get some retro 60/70's pieces that were more my style. 

I love having our own space, and Avery really loves the house too.  When we are out somewhere and he tells me that he wants to go to "Mommy's new house", I get the biggest grin!!

So, without further ado, here are some crappy quality instagram picks of our new place...I really need to take more...I just bought some vintage furniture to fill up the sunroof too, so those pics with be along within a few weeks!

 although you can't really see my dotted tights...i'm lovin' the few sunny days we have been getting....even though my summer wardrobe is not up to par yet.  i need some non-tights wearing pieces and some shorts that are work appropriate...

jamie brought me shopping on the weekend, but the requirement was he had to pick out the clothes.  he doesn't care for my love of floral and ruffly things, thankfully i still like plainer stuff too. and i veto'd anything that i absolutely wouldn't wear or like.  like this horrible pale yellow baby doll tank top that he was in LOVE with....it was BAD.  and 45$ to boot!!  

i picked up three dressier tank tops, two pair of dressier shorts, a dress, a mini skirt, two tee's and a belt.  

i'll share pics of them when i get a chance to wear them...since they are tight and short...not really wearable for work or for mama time!!  but i can't wait to share the dress...it's a fav!!!!

some great pieces for my hot mama date wardrobe! it was fun to try on clothes and see your hubby drooling....

date night...pub style

 for this edition of date night, jamie and i headed into the hot spot artisan brew pub!

which just started brewing their own yummy beer.

see their blonde brew above.

super tasty, almost too tasty.

i had to limit myself to two or things would have gotten out of hand.

once at the pub we found ourselves smack dab in a trivia match

it was a general theme featuring the alphabet

each answer was one word and started with a letter from the alphabet so we started at a....ended at z

plus some in between fun games, one being comedian clips (which we kicked so much ass at)

we didn't walk away winners (boo!) but we had a good time all the same.

and then we came home and cuddled.

wknd recap...

jamie was away this week, so on thursday i took a road trip to spend the remainder of his week with him.

about twenty minutes into the road trip i almost turned around because it was raining so hard that i could barely see the road, and it felt as if i was driving in a river anyways....

i swallowed my frustration and 4.5 hrs later i had arrived at my destination!

hi five for me!

friday i had the day to spend along, which hello, NEVER HAPPENS.

me, with nothing to do? no baby to watch, no laundry to do.

it was kind of a blissful day...once i got used to the fact that i could do whatever i wanted without a time limit.  first on the list, of course was hitting up the mall.

which, only made me realize that with the luxury of online shopping, who needs the mall?

i walked out empty handed after about twenty minutes.

i'm sure that has never happened to me in my life.

next stop was old navy, where i did a repeat of the mall.

up next--homesense.  i love homesense, and i think this was the prettiest one i have ever been too.  there was something i like on every shelf.  if i only had the budget to restyle the house from there...so much prettiness.

i did walk away with a mother's day gift for my mama, and a jamie oliver flavor shaker for me.

after that i hit up indigio, which is such a pretty book store.  all the same items as chapters, but just a much more upscale, stylin' book store.  i loved the large photo wallpaper on the walls.

my last stop was at, of course, starbucks. i treated myself to a frappuccino and a whoopee pie (plus some free wifi)...allowed myself to lounge out there for 40 minutes then it was back to the hotel to nap.

can you say heaven?

such a good day!  jamie joined me a few hours later where we just continued to hang out for the rest of the night.  soaking up every little ounce of solo time.

of course on saturday, we both couldn't wait to see avery, but that alone time really does wonders!!!

can't wait for our next road trip!

ps. that pic of the ipad was one that i was playin' at in store.....i cannot wait for mine to arrive!!!

the one where i miss my hubby...

dress, shoes, socks: ruche

i'll be the first to admit that i'm a big baby with the fact that jamie is gone away for a week. 

usually i'm the one who will go away, or if he goes away it's on the weekend so i'll have plans and not miss him that much (sorta)...

but he's never gone during the week; it's weird!

the house is quiet, there is no lunch can on the counter, no jackets on the couch (heard of closets??)

no alarm clock ringing or someone waking me up by banging around in the bathroom.

i miss my little noise maker!!

i will get to see him in two days so i guess i will survive!!

*disclaimer, i know other ppl are without their other halves for way longer, but i'm having a pity party!!*

date night...

friday we managed to score some baby free time, which we put to good use by going on a date.

dinner and a movie: predictable, but since we couldn't remember the last time we went to the movies together, it sounded like a fantastic idea.

jamie wanted to go to the 'big d drive in' for supper.

i had never been, so i was on board for that idea.

it's a retro little place, where you drive in, park, and the waitress comes to you

to my disappointment they were not on roller skates, but it was fun all the same!

 our grub on the tray attached to our window.

the also sold milkshakes but i wanted to save room for movie food

 my food: a 'danny burger'...cheeseburger covered in a tomato sauce, served with fries and coleslaw: yum!

i had root beer to drink...my fave!!

 we had some time to kill before the movie so i made jamie stop when i saw this door so we could take a picture....my casual friday date night outfit.

and then it was onto the movies! 

we saw scream 4

(when i bought my ticket i asked for 'scary movie'--embarrassing) 

it was really good! just as good as the first.

i thought i had it all figured out who the killer was, but i was wrong, usually i'm good at that stuff.

i'd say it was a great date night.

can't wait for more!!

 it's sunny out today but windy...still too chilly for me to grab some outdoor pics...plus i'm sure that my tripod would have fallen over!

it's not really baby friendly considering avery kicked me in the stomach while i was putting him in his car seat today, leaving a nice little brown foot print.

ps, you guys, this weekend i might have two, count 'em TWO date nights with my hubby.

and i am beyond excited.

we really need it.

and that's my main excitement for today.

right now i have to run because i have a sixteen month old who is very desperately trying to tear my keyboard in rags.

time...

hi friends.

don't you ever wish you had time to kick back like this?

without a care or responsibility in the world?

except in avery's case he is plenty responsible for lovin' his mama...

i keep reflecting on time.

i keep wishing i had more, i wish that i was better organized or prioritized.

wishing that i could sleep in, yet wake up early to be productive.

wishing i could spring clean the house, or spend the entire day playing with avery.

or had a free night/day every weekend to have a mini date with jamie.

it's always about time. and i don't like how it's consuming my thoughts lately.

i need to learn how to just not care about time.

to do what i want, or what i can and just be happy with that

so what if my butt doesn't hit a solid surface from 4-10 pm...

?

sometimes my thoughts are separated from before i became a mama, and after...

i long for my before time...when i had hours on end to do nothing...

but would i trade it in?

never.

he's so worth me being a busy, working mama.

i need to tell myself that more often.
